Tinymesh™ is not designed to be a carrier for video or voice. It is designed for the hundreds upon hundreds of applications that need to transport short, technical messages, such as control commands, instructions, conditional responses, metered data, measurements and other types of information.

Embedded in every Tinymesh™ RF Module

The Tinymesh™ solution comprises two powerful components; Wireless Tinymesh™ RF Modules that you integrate in your devices, and Tinymesh™ Cloud Service, a suite of data handling and internet tools for easy integration to your business applications. Each Tinymesh™ RF Module has the unique Tinymesh™ Multi-hop Wireless Mesh Network Protocol Stack embedded in it. A unique set of dedicated multi-hop wireless mesh network protocols

The Tinymesh™ Multi-hop Wireless Mesh Network Protocol Stack is a unique set of multi-hop wireless mesh network protocols that enable devices to send messages or transfer data to and from each other. The Tinymesh™ Multi-hop Wireless Mesh Network Protocol Stack employs a number of features to ensure safe delivery of messages.

No single point of failure

Tinymesh™ Multi-hop Wireless Mesh Networks may consist of large numbers of Tinymesh™ enabled devices or nodes where a node is one out of three types as described below. The RF traffic between the Tinymesh™ enabled devices follows a tree-type topology, where data transfer is up or down in the tree structure.

Acts as Gateway, Router or End Node

A Tinymesh™ Multi-hop Wireless Mesh Network in its simplest form consists of a single Gateway and a Router. End nodes or Tinymesh™ enabled devices without routing capability always must connect to a Router or directly to a Gateway. A network may be comprised of thousands of Tinymesh™ enabled devices. There may be several Gateway nodes within a network, for redundancy and automatic workload sharing.

Self-forming

A Tinymesh™ Multi-hop Wireless Mesh Network is self forming, created by a Gateway unit starting to invite Routers within RF range to join in the network. A Router joins the network after verifying the invitation, and immediately starts inviting new nodes to join. Within seconds of powering up the Gateway, a large network may be created.

Self-healing

A Tinymesh™ Multi-hop Wireless Mesh Network is self healing, and the communication path with the highest link quality and least number of hops to the recipient always gets priority. In a changing enviroment with changing link quality the network dynamically adapts to the optimum route.

Tinymesh™ Modules are available for SMD mounting or as Plug-in Boards.

The Tinymesh™ Protocol Stack is embedded in a full range of Tinymesh™ RF Modules in the license free sub-1 GHz and 2.4 GHz ISM bands.

Tinymesh™ is available at 433, 865 and 868 MHz with optional 500 mW output power for European and Indian regulations. Extended ranges per hop may be achieved using the Tinymesh™ Ultra Narrow Band Module.

Tinymesh™ further supports 915 MHz for US and 2.4 GHz with up to 100mW outputpower for worldwide usage. A single pin connects directly to low cost PCB or chip antennas or external antennas. 

Due to their small size, easy to use interface, complete embedded protocol and low power consumption, Tinymesh™  Modules may easily be integrated into any device making a very cost efficient solution. Features include:

  • LBT (Listen Before Talk) before any transmission
  • Message verification. CRC, message formats, latency and jump counts are scrutinized for acceptance
  • All packets are acknowledged, and retransmitted or saved until a valid acknowledge message is received
  • AES128 encryption (optional)
